October 27th is National Black Cat Day! Keeping up with highlighting some of the absurd, odd, and strange cuts from our print shop at the Sacramento History Museum this month as Halloween approaches, Howard letterpress printed an electrotype (copy of a woodcut) made 125-135 years ago from the Lewis Winter Collection. Like this item printed, there are other cuts made by Lewis Winter in the collection that depict animals doing out of the ordinary activities. In this case, it’s a cat riding a penny

California's useless climate policies have driven gas prices to the HIGHEST in America. Sacramento's idea of “saving the planet” is to shut down oil production here, only to ship it in from halfway around the world. As governor, I'll increase California oil production, cut the taxes and regulations, and get gas down to $3 a gallon.

As Halloween approaches, we are printing some of the letterpress cuts in our print shop exhibit that fit the holiday. Also, October 26th is National Pumpkin Day! For today, Channey letterpress printed an image from a modern photo engraving, which was made about 20 years ago. This was used to help promote a previous Halloween festival that was held in Old Sacramento. The print depicts a head of a scarecrow with carved pumpkins on each side. This was printed with a gradient of red, yellow, blue, a

We are building up a variety of greeting cards for different holidays, observances, and occasions. This card is for a special person in your life…who also likes trains and puns. In this video, Jared letterpress printed greeting cards using a 4x6 Golding Official No. 2 tabletop printing press. The ink is red rubber base ink and the type font is 30 point Caslon. The text states, “Our love is the coal that makes this train roll!” Also included is an image from a photo engraving depicting a mid-1800
