In 2004, the weird af Quiznos Spongmonkeys changed the course of advertising forever. The art director found them in a viral video about the moon; next thing you know, they were singing about subs instead. And we still can't get them out of our heads. #early2000s #quiznos #nostalgia #spongmonkey #fyp

Terrifying. In the 2000s Quiznos thought it was a good idea to use these guys in their advertising. This caused many people to lose their appetite and swear off Quiznos. . . . . . #spongmonkeys #quiznos #subs #pepperbar #advertising #commercial #2000s #00s #millennials #millenial #weird #funny #humor

Quiznos Was Better Than Subway

🤯 Quiznos had better sandwiches than Subway. So why did they fail while Subway thrived? Their marketing completely missed what customers wanted. Remember those weird commercials with the singing rodents offering "free subs" that confused millions? Meanwhile, Subway figured out exactly how to position toasted sandwiches even though Quiznos had them first. The lesson? Knowing what your customers actually want is more important than having a better product. #restaurant #technology #entrepreneurshi

The Spongmonkeys were fuzzy, rat-like mascots for Quiznos Sub sandwiches who debuted in 2004 commercials. The singing, guitar-playing creatures were designed by Joel Veitch and became a viral sensation, garnering over a million views in the pre-YouTube era. However, Quiznos stopped airing the ads after a few months due to negative reactions from consumers and franchisees.
